Spring weather has yet to arrive, but the spring sports season is underway on a limited basis in the Mid-Coast.

The defending Class A state champion Brunswick boys’ lacrosse team has picked up where it left off, dominating host Cony (19-1) and visiting Gardiner (20-8) in season-opening action. The Dragons will get a test Monday when Scarborough pays a visit in a rematch of last year’s scintillating overtime state final. A home game versus Lewiston follows Wednesday.

Mt. Ararat was a 5-2 winner over Maranacook in its first outing. The Eagles go to Oak Hill Wednesday of next week.

Morse opened with a 16-5 home win over Lawrence. The Shipbuilders welcome Lincoln Academy Monday.

On the girls’ side, Mt. Ararat started with a 17-1 loss at Messalonskee. The Eagles host Morse Monday. That will be the Shipbuilders’ opener.

Brunswick began with a 10-1 loss at Lewiston. The Dragons are home with Cony Tuesday of next week.

Mt. Ararat’s boys’ tennis team opened with a 4-1 victory over Edward Little, while Brunswick fell, 3-2, to Lewiston and Morse dropped a 5-0 decision to Gardiner.

On the girls’ side, Brunswick opened with a 5-0 victory over Mt. Ararat and Morse lost to Gardiner, 5-0.

Brunswick opened the baseball and softball season Wednesday at home against Cony. Friday, the Dragons visit Bangor and Monday, they play at Lincoln Academy.

Mt. Ararat opens at Mt. Blue Friday, plays at Skowhegan Saturday (baseball only) and welcomes Morse Monday.

Morse goes to Lake Region to start the season Friday.
