The spring sports season is known for its brevity and even though it feels like it just started, the regular season is rapidly dwindling.

Most teams have already played at least half of their schedule and it’s time to start thinking about qualifying for the postseason and playoff positioning.

Here’s a glimpse at what’s transpired in recent days and what’s to come:

Baseball

Morse’s baseball team still leads the Western Class B Heal Points standings at 5-2, but the Shipbuilders have dropped their last two games, 3-2 at home to Maranacook and 7-2 at home to Nokomis. The Shipbuilders hosted Oceanside Wednesday and Belfast Thursday, go to MCI Friday and Mt. View Monday. They host Medomak Wednesday of next week.

In Eastern A, Mt. Ararat was 2-5 and 12th in the Heals at press time after recent losses at Edward Little (3-2) and at home to Oxford Hills (7-1). The Eagles are at Hampden Academy Friday and Brunswick Saturday. They host Cony Monday and go to Lewiston Wednesday.

Brunswick (13th in Eastern A) fell to 0-7 after a 10-0 loss at Oxford Hills last Thursday. The Dragons were at Lewiston Wednesday, host Messalonskee Friday, Mt. Ararat Saturday, Erskine Monday and go to Edward Little Wednesday.

Softball

On the softball diamond, Morse is 1-6 and 12th in Western B after a 2-1 home loss to Maranacook and a 7-5 home loss to Nokomis in recent days. The Shipbuilders had earned their first victory last Thursday, 4-2, at Waterville. Morse hosted Oceanside Wednesday and Belfast Thursday, goes to MCI Friday and Mt. View Monday. The Shipbuilders host Medomak Wednesday of next week.

In Eastern A, Mt. Ararat fell to 2-5 and 11th in the standings after recent losses to Edward Little (5-3) and Oxford Hills (12-0). The Eagles are at Hampden Academy Friday and Brunswick Saturday. They host Cony Monday and go to Lewiston Wednesday.

Brunswick’s 10-1 loss at Oxford Hills last Thursday left it 1-6 and 13th in the Heals. The Dragons were at Lewiston Wednesday, host Messalonskee Friday, Mt. Ararat Saturday, Erskine Monday and go to Edward Little Wednesday.

Boys’ lacrosse

The Brunswick boys’ lacrosse team is now 6-0 and first in the Eastern A Heals after one-sided wins at Cony (18-0) and Edward Little (19-1) last weekend. The Dragons were home with Oxford Hills Wednesday, welcome Messalonskee Friday and Edward Little Monday, then go to Mt. Ararat Wednesday of next week.

The Eagles were 3-1 and fourth in Eastern A at the start of the week after having three straight games rained out. Mt. Ararat was at Messalonskee Wednesday and home with Edward Little Thursday, play at Oxford Hills Monday and host Brunswick Wednesday.

In Eastern B, Morse is 1-4 and 10th after losses to visiting Maranacook (14-5) and host Gardiner (10-8). The Shipbuilders hosted Lincoln Wednesday, welcome Camden Hills Friday, go to Mountain Valley Saturday and play host to Mt. Blue Wednesday of next week.

Girls’ lacrosse

On the girls’ side, Brunswick dominated host Morse, 18-3, Monday to improve to 5-0 (first in Eastern A). The Dragons were coming off a 16-5 home win over Morse last Thursday. Brunswick was at Cony Thursday, host Morse Tuesday and go to Camden Hills Wednesday.

After losing its first two games, Mt. Ararat has won three straight, 10-4 at Oxford Hills, 14-4 at Gardiner and 16-4 at home over Mountain Valley. The Eagles (fifth in Eastern A) hosted Messalonskee Thursday, welcome Morse Monday and go to Cony Tuesday.

In Eastern B, Morse is fourth at 1-3 after a 17-4 win at Lincoln and Monday’s 18-3 home loss to Brunswick. The Shipbuilders were home with Gardiner Thursday, go to Mt. Ararat Monday and Brunswick Tuesday.

Track

Brunswick’s boys’ and girls’ outdoor track teams won a six-team meet at Oxford Hills last week. Morse hosted Edward Little, Messalonskee and Waterville and finished fourth in both the boys’ and girls’ meets.

Tennis

Brunswick’s boys’ tennis is 4-1 and fourth in Eastern A after Monday’s 5-0 home win over Brewer. Mt. Ararat fell, 5-0, at home to Bangor Monday and is 2-3 (seventh in the standings). In Western B, Morse is 1-4 and eighth after a 4-1 loss at Camden Hills Monday.

On the girls’ side, Brunswick leads the way in Eastern A with a 5-0 mark following Monday’s 5-0 win over Brewer. Mt. Ararat was 3-2 and sixth after Monday’s 4-1 victory over Bangor. In Western B, Morse was 0-5 and 14th following Monday’s 5-0 loss to Camden Hills.
