After a most fulfilling fall and winter, the spring sports season was truly memorable.
While rain, as usual, was plentiful, the season was completed on schedule and had an abundance of highlights.
Brunswick’s girls’ tennis team was a state champion and its No. 1 singles standout, Maisie Silverman, had no peer in the singles tournament either.
Several runners, jumpers and throwers impressed this season.
The Brunswick girls’ lacrosse team made it to yet another state final in the swan song of its longtime coach. Morse and Mt. Ararat also produced strong seasons.
On the boys’ side, Brunswick was unbeaten in the regular season before being upset in the regional semifinals. Morse and Mt. Ararat were also playoff participants.
The Morse baseball team was one of the very best in Eastern Class B.
Mt. Ararat’s softball squad managed to qualify for the postseason.
While we’re all glad summer’s here, let’s take one final look back at the moments and champions that made the spring of 2012 one to remember.

When it came to girls’ tennis this spring, there was Brunswick’s Maisie Silverman and there was everyone else. Silverman won the state singles title, then led the Dragons to a Class A team championship.
Mt. Ararat’s McKenzie Gary was one of several local scorers at the state track and field meet.
Tori Field and the Morse girls’ lacrosse team made it to the Eastern B semifinals once again this spring.
