A new spring season is underway and local schools have impressed in the early going.

Here’s a glimpse:

Baseball

Brunswick’s baseball team is off to a hot 2-0 start, edging visiting Lawrence, 4-3, and downing host Hampden Academy, 3-1. The Dragons were home with Brewer Wednesday, welcome Bangor Friday and play at Mt. Blue Wednesday of next week.

Mt. Ararat fell in its first game, 13-7, to visiting Hampden. After playing at Brewer Tuesday and hosting Bangor Wednesday, the Eagles go to Oxford Hills Friday and welcome Mt. Blue Monday.

Morse began with an 8-3 win at Maranacook, then fell to 1-1 after losing, 5-2, to visiting Leavitt. After playing at MCI Wednesday, the Shipbuilders host Erskine Friday, go to Winslow Monday and welcome Camden Hills Tuesday of next week.

Softball

Brunswick’s softball team began with losses to visiting Lawrence (9-5) and host Hampden (14-1). The Dragons were home with Brewer Wednesday, go to Bangor Friday and play at Mt. Blue Wednesday of next week.

Mt. Ararat fell in its first game, 10-0, to visiting Hampden. After playing at Brewer Tuesday and hosting Bangor Wednesday, the Eagles go to Oxford Hills Friday and welcome Mt. Blue Monday.

Morse began with a 16-2 setback at Maranacook, then fell to 0-2 with a 33-0 home loss to Leavitt. After playing at MCI Wednesday, the Shipbuilders host Erskine Friday, go to Winslow Monday and welcome Camden Hills Tuesday of next week.

Boys’ lacrosse

Brunswick’s boys’ lacrosse team was very impressive in its first two outings, crushing hosts Mt. Ararat (17-2) and Edward Little (18-4). The Dragons were home with Messalonskee Wednesday, then welcome Oxford Hills Tuesday.

Mt. Ararat bounced back from its 17-2 home loss to Brunswick with a 7-4 victory at Cony and a 10-7 win at Lewiston to improve to 2-1. Against the Blue Devils, Jeremy Williams had five goals, while Nick Dow added three. Connor Read made nine saves. The Eagles went to Edward Little Wednesday and host Messalonskee Tuesday.

Morse was at Camden Hills Wednesday, plays at Mt. Blue Friday and hosts Gardiner Tuesday.

Girls’ lacrosse

On the girls’ side, Mt. Ararat won at Deering in its opener, 7-5, Friday. The Eagles hosted Messalonskee Thursday and go to Lewiston Monday.

Brunswick opened with a home game versus Lewiston Tuesday. After welcoming Cony Thursday, the Dragons go to Oxford Hills Monday.

Morse started Tuesday when it hosted Mountain Valley. After going to Camden Hills Thursday, the Shipbuilders welcome Gardiner Tuesday.

Tennis

Brunswick’s boys’ tennis opened with a 5-0 win at Cony. Mt. Ararat started with losses at Bangor (4-1) and Mt. Blue (3-2). Morse opened with a 3-2 home loss to Lincoln.

On the girls’ side, Brunswick is 2-0 after downing host Oxford Hills and visiting Cony by 5-0 scores. Mt. Ararat began 2-0 after 5-0 wins over visiting Bangor and Mt. Blue. Morse opened with a 4-1 loss at Lincoln.
