Yarmouth Unified team advances
Yarmouth’s Unified basketball team followed a 5-3 regular season with a 42-32 victory over Sacopee Valley in Friday’s South Region first round. The sixth-ranked Clippers advanced to face No. 3 Deering/Portland (5-4) in the quarterfinals Tuesday. If Yarmouth won that game as well, it would take part in the regional semifinals Thursday. The South Region Final is Tuesday of next week and the state championship game is Thursday, March 17 in Lisbon. Greely, ranked 10th after a 2-5 season, wasn’t as fortunate. The Rangers were eliminated by No. 7 Fryeburg Academy, 42-36.
