Local linemen named Gaziano Award semifinalists
Cheverus senior Frank Curran (defense) and Portland senior Charlie Kovarik (offense) were recently named semifinalist for the Gaziano Lineman Award, a scholarship for Maine high school linemen which is the largest of its kind in the country. The winners will be announced Jan. 30 in Augusta.
Benefit basketball tournament upcoming
The 22nd annual Dr. Noel Paradise Memorial C-U Swish Out and Junior Swish-Out Childhood Cancer Challenge will be held Sunday, Jan. 17 at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. Registration is underway. FYI, 773-5671, ext. 273, or mainecul.org.
