GPCS names inaugural Hall of Fame class

Greater Portland Christian School of South Portland inducted Jen Allen, Mark Farrington and Wayne Farrington as its inaugural class into its Athletics Hall of Fame May 21. Allen (Class of 1986) is the girls’ basketball program’s all-time leading scorer (928 points). Mark Farrington (Class of 1988) is the boys’ basketball all-time leading scorer (1,288 points). Wayne Farrington was an athletic director and a baseball, basketball and soccer coach at the school.

SP football registration open

Registration for South Portland youth and middle school football is open through Aug. 1. It is now an online registration process. FMI, southportlandfootball.com.

Race for 40-plus runners upcoming

The Second Wind 5K, for ages 40-and-up, to benefit the Maine Senior Games, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m., at Scarborough High School. The race is open for joggers, runners and walkers. Registration is $20 ahead of time and $25 the day of the race. FMI, 396-6519 or smaaa.org.

SMCC holding golf tournament

Southern Maine Community College’s Seawolves Athletic Club and the SMCC athletic department will host its 9th annual golf tournament Tuesday, June 18 at Prouts Neck Country Club in Scarborough. Proceeds go to to help improve the student-athlete experience at the college. Foursome registration is $250, which includes fee, cart, box lunch, a post-tourney reception and prizes.
