Another busy week for SMCC

The Southern Maine Community College women’s soccer team improved to 4-1 last week with an 8-0 victory at Dean College. The Seawolves (1-1 in the conference) go to Unity College Saturday and host Bunker Hill CC Wednesday of next week. Zyrah Guistra was named USCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after a recent three-goal performance against rival Central Maine CC. The men’s team beat host CMCC, 3-0, then lost, 9-0, at Dean College and was 3-3-1 on the season at press time (2-0 in league play). The Seawolves are at Unity Saturday. Softball fell to 0-4 after a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the University of New Hampshire’s club team Saturday (3-0 and 14-4). SMCC hosts CMCC for a doubleheader Friday and plays two at New Hampshire Technical Institute Sunday. Baseball lost a doubleheader to St. Joseph’s of Vermont last Saturday (2-1 and 12-2 in five innings), then split a twinbill with UNH’s club team (losing, 5-4, in seven innings, and winning, 11-1, in five innings) to fall to 1-3-1. After playing two at CMCC Wednesday, the Seawolves play a doubleheader at NHTI Saturday. Kyle Reichert was named the Player of the Week after batting .444 and slugging 1.111 in a pair of games. Reichert had two home runs six RBI in one contest. The golf team is at the USCAA qualifier Saturday in Augusta.
