SMCC fall success continues

Southern Maine Community College has enjoyed a lot of success in the fall sports season. The men’s soccer team began the week 4-2-1 after downing rival Central Maine Community College (2-0) and edging Unity College (3-2, in two overtimes) last week. The Seawolves (2-1 in Yankee Small College Conference play) were at CMCC Tuesday and host the University of Maine-Machias Sunday. The women’s squad beat CMCC, 10-1, then fell to 3-4 (1-2 in conference) after a 2-1 loss at Unity. SMCC welcomes U. Maine-Machias Sunday. On the diamond, the Seawolves baseball team was 3-2-1 after splitting a doubleheader with CMCC (winning, 4-2, and losing, 11-10). Holyoke CC comes to South Portland for a doubleheader Saturday. Softball played an exhibition schedule until hosting Northern Essex CC for two games Thursday. SMCC welcomes St. Joseph of Vermont for a doubleheader Sunday. The golf team was first at last weekend’s YSCC qualifier with a cumulative score of 360. 

SMCC hosting baseball alumni game

Southern Maine Community College is hosting its first annual baseball alumni game Sunday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. FMI, goseawolves.com.
