The Wreaths Across America convoy of trucks headed to Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia passes under the Stars and Stripes as it arrives at Cheverus High School in Portland on Sunday evening, where hundreds of people attended a ceremony in the school gym to welcome and bless the wreaths. The Wreaths Across America program, conceived in 1992 by Morrill Worcester, president of Worcester Wreath Co. in Harrison, now delivers more than than 20,000 wreaths to Arlington and more than 400 other veterans cemeteries in the U.S. and around the world. This year’s wreath-laying at Arlington will take place on Dec. 15.
