Eighth-grade students at Frank H. Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth turn a parachute to the delight of two Special Olympians on May 31 during the first Young Athletes Festival conducted by Special Olympics Maine for children ages 2 1/2 to 8 who have intellectual disabilities or autism.

Yarmouth eighth-grader Molly Wilson plays catcher for a Special Olympian at the bean-bag toss station. Participants in the Young Athletes Festival learned about catching, balance, striking, kicking, jumping, throwing and more in the introduction to Special Olympics activities.
