South Portland track standout Sue McCarthy had herself quite a month of July, winning 10 national titles. At the National Senior Games, McCarthy won four individual gold medals in the track and field competitions in the women’s 50-54 age group, taking the 50, 100, 200 and 400. McCarthy was also a member of a first-place 4×100 relay team. Then, at the USA Track and Field Masters Nationals, McCarthy produced three Masters lifetime best performances in winning the the 100, 200 and 400 and also taking home gold medals in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. McCarthy is current ranked first in the country in the 100 and 200 and second in the world in the 100 and 200.
