The South Portland American softball team recently captured the District Six 11/12-year-old tournament at Scarborough High School with victories over Deering-Bayside, Cumberland/North Yarmouth, Westbrook, Cape Elizabeth, Gray-New Gloucester and two wins over South Portland National (1-0 and 7-5). American went 7-1 overall in the tournament. The team advanced to the state tournament in Auburn for the second year in a row.
