South Portland’s boys’ outdoor track team culminated its strong season in style last weekend at the New England championships in Bridgewater, Mass. Danny Guiliani (right) came in second in the shot put (54 feet, 10 inches) and 25th in the discus (124-5) to qualify for all New-England honors and Michael Cuesta (left) placed fourth in the triple jump (44-5.5) and 23rd in the long jump (19-0) to also qualify as all-New England. Jon Bagley (center) anchored a 3,200 relay team (which also included Xander Keiter, Steven Smith and Jacob Maloney) to a 24th-place finish (8 minutes, 45.20 seconds). In other results, Scarborough’s Hugh McSorley placed seventh in the discus (143-2), Griffin Madden came in 14th in the 110 hurdles (15.67 seconds), Colin Jones placed 17th in the 800 (2:00.33) and Maxim Doiron finished 19th in the 110 hurdles (16.12) and 24th in the 300 hurdles (44.22). Cape Elizabeth’s Kyle Kennedy was 15th in the mile (4:31.58).  On the girls’ side, South Portland’s Shannon Conley placed 19th in the mile (5:13.95), Lauren Magnuson was 23rd in the both the 100 (12.93) and 200 (26.51),  Michelle Medici finished 24th in the javelin (98-4) and the Red Riots’ 1,600 relay came in 22nd (4:14.27) and the 3,200 relay was 25th (10:22.79). Scarborough’s Laura Volan came in 21st in the mile (5:20.16). Cape Elizabeth’s Eva Brydson was 26th in the 800 (2:28.69).
