Er Li Peng, class Valedictorian,  is the daughter of Yun Zhong and Cheng Peng. Peng is active in student senate, French Club, Interact Club, National Honor Society as president, Ski Club, piano, tennis, soccer, Relay for Life, Math Team, and Science Bowl. She is interested in traveling, snowboarding, camping, playing the piano, and watching movies. Peng volunteers with Interact, in the learning lab and at the Ronald McDonald House. Awards and honors include NHS; World Language Honor Society; Harvard Book Award; Society of Women Engineers; A.P. Scholar; MPA Principal’s Award; Excellence in French, A.P. US History, and honors pre-calculus.  She was also a delegate to Dirigo Girls State.  Peng will attend Dartmouth College in the fall.

Elizabeth “Libby” Grant, class salutatorian, is the daughter of Mark and Barbara Grant. Grant is active in varsity soccer, varsity basketball, varsity softball, French Club, Interact Club and National Honor Society.  In addition to sports, she enjoys cooking, watching movies, reading, going to the beach, and serving the community through volunteering.  Awards and honors include Dirigo Girls State Delegate, Yale University Book Award, President’s Award for Academic Excellence, Excellence in Chemistry, NHS Vice President, French Club President, World Language Honor Society, All-Academic team in soccer, basketball, and softball, Vaughn Fuller Student Athlete Award, and member of the 2012 Maine McDonald’s Academic All-State Team.  In her spare time, Grant referees youth soccer and basketball and works as a breakfast attendant at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Portland.  She will attend University of Maine in the fall.

William Bushey is the son of Stephen and Margaret Bushey. He is active in Interact Club, varsity soccer, varsity baseball, and premier soccer with Portland Phoenix Club.  When not on the soccer field, Bushey enjoys fishing, ping pong, and serving the community with the Rotary Club as well as participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He also enjoys unicycling.  Awards and honors include College of the Atlantic Book Award, Excellence in Biology Award, Rookie of the Year, Captain’s Award for Soccer, World Language Honor Society, Dirigo Boys State Delegate and academic team in soccer and baseball.  Bushey plans to attend University of New England as a pharmacy student.

Molly Ekholm is the daughter of Glenn and Mary Ekholm. She is active in Spanish Club as co-president, marching and concert bands, musical production, chorus, and the Math Team.  Her hobbies and interests include reading, hanging out with friends, music (both vocal and instrumental), volunteering with band director Sandy Barry at Mahoney Middle School and participating with her church’s worship team.  Awards include Colby College Book Award and Marching Band Rookie of the Year.  She’s a member of National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society.  She was also named Alternate Delegate to Dirigo Girls State.  In her spare time, Ekholm enjoys babysitting.  She will attend Gordon College in the fall.

Marion Fearing is the daughter of Catherine and Stephen Fearing. Fearing is active in Latin Club, National Honor Society, yearbook, Interact Club, school newspaper, stage crew for the musical and Red Riot Ambassadors.  Her hobbies include collecting old books, playing the flute, reading, writing and attending craft fairs.  Awards and honors include World Language Honor Society, Wellesley Book Award, Excellence in both Latin and Sophomore English, Women’s Literary Union Writing Content finalist.  Following her junior year, Fearing spent the summer in England.  In her spare time, she enjoys volunteer work.  Fearing plans to study English at Wheaton College.

RoryAlice Hoecker is the daughter of Anton and Karlee Hoecker. Hoecker is active in music (band and lessons), Amnesty International, Outing Club, ultimate frisbee and the annual musical production.  Her hobbies and interests include music, writing, photography, art, the outdoors, biking and running.  Awards included Excellence in History (both 9th and 10th grades), and the Dartmouth College Book Award.  She is a member of NHS.  Outside of school, she babysits and works as a cashier at Hannaford. Hoecker will attend Clark University next year.

Matthew LaBerge is the son of Steven and Michelle LaBerge. LaBerge is active in multiple music activities, including musical theatre, jazz ensemble, marching band and a men’s a cappella group.  He plays tennis, ultimate frisbee, and is class president.  His interests include singing, playing the ukulele and piano, writing music, studying musicals and opera, biking, hiking and outdoor adventuring.  Additionally, he can recite the alphabet backward in three seconds. Awards and honors include All-State Chorus, All-State Concert Band, All-State Jazz Band, National Honor Society, World Language National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Marching Band Leadership Award and Marching Band Outstanding Performer Award.  LaBerge has worked for the “Best of Broadway” concert which benefits the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.  He plans to attend University of Southern Maine, earn a Master’s degree in Education and become a music teacher.

Jillian Legere is the daughter of Robin and Mike Legere. She has been active in varsity basketball, varsity field hockey, Interact Club, French Club, Maine Hoops AAU, National Honor Society and World Languages National Honor Society. She tutors at Small Elementary School, as well as coaches youth sports. Awards include the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award, Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), and the Smith College Book Award.  She currently works as a supervisor at Wainwright Field Complex. Legere plans to attend Bates College next year.

Daniel Medici is the son of David and Leanne Medici. He is active in varsity football, is captain of the varsity indoor track team, as well as captain of varsity outdoor track, and is a member of both the National Honor Society and World Language National Honor Society.  In addition to sports, Medici is a member of the Interact Club and volunteers as a coach for South Portland Youth Football.  Awards and honors include A.P. Scholar, Cornell University Book Award, Excellence in Physics and Outstanding Student Athlete Award for Football. Medici was named Team MVP All-Conference in indoor track (2009-10) and All-Conference football (2011-12).  He works as a timer for middle school track meets at the Portland Expo. Medici plans to attend Colby College next year.

Christopher Thibeault is the son of Greg and Laurie Thibeault. He is active in the Outing Club and Ultimate Frisbee. Awards have included the Williams College Book Award, as well as Excellence in Biology and English and he’s a member of the World Languages National Honor Society.  He is currently employed at Smaha’s Legion Square Market.  He will attend the University of Vermont in the fall.
