‘Les Mis’ on stage at
SPHS beginning Feb. 4

SOUTH PORTLAND — The South Portland High School music department is presenting the award-winning musical “Les Miserables,” beginning Friday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb. 13 at the South Portland High School auditorium.

Longtime South Portland High School producer and director duo, Steve and Jane Filieo, have assembled a cast, orchestra and crew of 95 students for the production. 

Performance times are as follows: 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 4-5, and Feb. 11-12; and 2 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 6 and Feb. 13. The Sunday, Feb. 6 performance will be available with American Sign Language interpretation.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, and are available online at myticketportal.com or at the South Portland Auditorium box office. Please call 767-7710 ext.292 for more details.

Due to the overall mature theme of the story, the show may not be suitable for young children.

A combined team of police explorers from Scarborough and Portland received several awards at the 2010 Explorer Tactical Challenge held recently in Connecticut.  The explorers participated in mock tactical situations that sworn police officers might face and were graded on communications, teamwork, leadership, planning and execution skills. The team won second place for Best Overall Post Award, as well as individual awards for sniper challenge, drug warrant, bus assault, Hogan’s alley, rapid deployment and high risk warrant.
