Locals named to all-state track team

Several Scarborough and South Portland indoor track standouts were named to the Maine Track and Cross Country Coaches’ Association all-state team. Scarborough’s Robby Hall made the boys’ first team. Scarborough’s Greg Viola and South Portland’s Duncan Preston were honorable mentions.South Portland’s Nyajock Pan was a girls’ honorable mention.

Portland Women’s Rugby Football Club opener Saturday

The Portland Women’s Rugby Football Club is playing its first spring home game Saturday at Middlesex (Mass.). Kickoff is 11 a.m. at the Fox Street field. FMI, elsbethpj@gmail.com.

SP announces spring co-ed softball leagues

The South Portland Recreation Department is offering a co-ed adult softball league for the spring and summer. Games will be held weekday evenings from early May into August. All players must be at least 18 and have to have graduated from high school. Registration deadline is April 22. FMI, 767-7650 or sbest@southportland.org.

Challenger baseball league set to begin

The South Portland National Little League is starting a Challenger Division for mentally and physically challenged boys and girls ages 6 to 18 who are in school. Games begin in May at the Pine Street fields. Registration is April 13 from 9 to 11 a.m., at the South Portland Recreation Center. Fee is $35, which includes a game jersey and cap.
