SMCC success continues

Southern Maine Community College continues to produce victories on the diamond, pitch and course. The Seawolves baseball team took a 6-2 mark (4-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference) into Wednesday’s game at Bridgton Academy. Saturday, SMCC rolled over Mass Bay, 13-1. A doubleheader showdown at rival New Hampshire Technical Institute looms Sunday. Softball was 5-1 (3-1 in conference) at press time after sweeping a doubleheader at Eastern Maine CC last week, 9-4 and 6-2. The Seawolves have a twinbill at NHTI Sunday. Men’s soccer improved to 4-3 (3-1 in conference) after a 12-0 win at U. Maine-Augusta Monday. SMCC hosted CMCC Wednesday, goes to U. Maine-Machias Saturday and hosts Northern Maine CC Sunday. Women’s soccer beat host Unity College, 4-1, Monday to improve to 3-2-1 (2-1 in conference). The Seawolves were home with CMCC Wednesday and go to U. Maine-Machias Saturday. Golf will take part in the YSCC qualifier Sunday at U. Maine-Augusta.

SP volleyball fundraiser upcoming

A silent auction fundraiser for the South Portland volleyball boosters will be held Oct. 19 at J.P. Thornton’s. It goes from 5 to 9 p.m., at two bands will be playing.
