SMCC men off to perfect start

Southern Maine Community College’s men’s basketball team made it three in a row to start the 2014-15 season with an 84-80, double overtime victory over visiting Navy Prep Saturday. Tyheem Simon had 17 points off the bench to lead the way. The Seawolves (who hosted Maine Maritime Academy in an exhibition Wednesday), look to make it four in a row Saturday when Berkeley (New York) visits at 3 p.m. SMCC goes to Bridgton Academy Wednesday. The women’s squad improved to 2-1 Saturday with a 76-48 win at Bunker Hill CC. Amira Jones had 20 points and 16 rebounds. The Seawolves (who hosted Maine Maritime in an exhibition Wednesday), welcome Berkeley Saturday and Navy Prep Sunday.
