South Portland preseason practice schedule

South Portland High School begins fall sports preseason practice Monday, Aug. 17. Football practices on campus with a morning session from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Boys’ soccer practices at Wainwright Farms with a morning session from 9 to 11 a.m. and an evening session from 5 to 7 p.m. Girls’ soccer practices at Wainwright from 7 to 9 a.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Field hockey practices at Wainwright from 8 to 10 a.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m. Volleyball meets in Beal Gymnasium from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cross country meets at the high school from 8 to 10 a.m. Golf meets at South Portland Municipal Golf Course at 8 a.m. Cheering meets in front of Beal Gymnasium from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Student-athletes must have participation paperwork, proof of a current physical exam and proof of insurance on file in the athletic office before participating. Summer Softball Slam upcoming

The South Portland High School Football Boosters will host the Summer Softball Slam, an adult co-ed sanctioned American Softball Association slow pitch tournament, Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Wainwright Fields complex in South Portland. The tournament will get underway at 8 a.m. and will conclude with the championship game at around 6:30 p.m. The tournament’s entry fee is $250.
