SMCC men fall from unbeaten ranks

The Southern Maine Community College men’s basketball team suffered its first loss last Wednesday, 67-60, at Bridgton Academy. Tyheem Simon had 19 points, while Atencio Martin added 18. The Seawolves got back in the win column Saturday, downing visiting Vermont Tech, 70-53, to improve to 5-1. Carlos Gonzalez led the way with a dozen points. SMCC went to Unity College Wednesday, plays at Hampshire College Saturday and visits U. Maine-Augusta Tuesday. As for the women, they balanced their record at 3-3 Saturday with a 108-53 home win over Vermont Tech in the first conference game of the season. Amira Jones’ 18 points led a balanced attack.
