South Portland High School is seeking a junior varsity girls’ lacrosse coach. Mahoney and Memorial Middle schools need a girls’ lacrosse and a boys’ lacrosse coach and Memorial is also seeking a softball coach for the 2010 spring season. FMI, 767-7705.

Cape Elizabeth fire department hockey fundraiser upcoming

The third annual Cape Elizabeth Fire Department versus the Cape Elizabeth varsity hockey team will be held Saturday, March 20 at 8:30 p.m., at the Portland Ice Arena. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. All proceeds benefit the Engine 2 Company.

Maine Lacrosse training new officials

The Maine Lacrosse Officials Association (MLOA) needs more officials to support boys’ lacrosse at Maine high schools, middle school and youth events and is hosting a certification course at the North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) Middle School in Yarmouth. The cost of training is $20, which is deducted from your dues when you are certified. FMI, mainelaxofficials.org.

Maine Premier Lacrosse offering 8th grade division

Maine Premier Lacrosse is offering a session for 8th grade boys who want to transition into high school programs. The sessions run Tuesdays from March 9 through April 13, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Portland Indoor Sports Complex. Cost is $150. FMI, info@mainepremierlax.com or mainepremierlax.com.

Haeuser named first-team all-star

South Portland’s Emily Haeuser, a senior at Vassar College, was named to the Liberty League first team for basketball after leading the Brewers to their best overall record in eight years. Haeuser finished with 15.2 points per game, good for second in the league. Haeuser also averaged 8.5 rebounds a game (third in the league), 1.7 blocks per contest (best in the league) and recorded 10 double-doubles. She was named league Forward of the Week on four different occasions and was chosen the ECAC Division III Upstate Player of the Week on Feb. 16. Haeuser is the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
