South Portland Little League seeks umpires

The South Portland National Little League is seeking volunteers to umpire baseball and softball games for the upcoming season. USM holding wrestling clinics

Casco Bay Sports offering spring leagues

Casco Bay Sports is offering soccer, flag football, softball and dodgeball leagues this spring. A co-ed Monday night 6-on-6 soccer league is underway. A Thursday night league begins May 6. A Sunday 11-on-11 league begins May 2. A spring 6-on-6 flag football league is underway. A Sunday softball league begins May 2. A weeknight league commences May 3. Former South Portland player earns Maine Baseball Hall of Fame nod

Pat Feury of South Portland, a career .300 hitter for the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham and a longtime player/coach in the Portland Twilight League, will be one of 13 new members inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland on July 25. Tickets are available by calling 232-8256, 883-0154 or 846-3460.

Sailing regatta upcoming

The Portland High School sailing team is hosting the second annual “Bulldog Classic” Regatta on Saturday at SailMaine Sailing Center in Portland. FMI, 650-7878.

SMCC honors top March athletes

Southern Maine Community College recently named Charlie Boettcher and Becca Roberts its Liberty Mutual March Athletes of the Month. Boettcher is a sophomore pitcher on the baseball team and is off to a 2-0 start. Boettcher is a captain and a Fire Science major. Roberts is a catcher for the softball team and is hitting .636 with four home runs and eight RBI. She is a Liberal Studies-Social Work concentration student.
