SMCC holding alumni basketball games

Southern Maine Community College will hold alumni games Saturday, Feb. 12. The women play at 2 p.m. The men at 3 p.m. The current women’s team plays Berkeley College at 5 p.m. and the men face Berkeley at 7 p.m. At 9 p.m., there will be a postgame reception at Rivalries Sports Bar in Portland. SMCC hoops teams third in conference

Southern Maine Community College’s men’s basketball team beat Lakes Region CC (112-82) and the University of Maine-Augusta (100-66) and lost at home to Navy Prep (101-82) in recent action. Coleman Findlay went off for 28 points, Josh Mackie added 23 and Paul Holland finished with 16 against Lakes Region. The Seawolves got 17 points from Findlay and 16 each from Mackie and Dan Foster against UMA. In the loss, SMCC (13-11, 7-3 in the Yankee Small College conference, good for third) was led by 18 points from Randall Laing. The Seawolves were tied for seventh in the latest DII basketball poll. They lead Division II in 3-point field goals made per game and are second in scoring average. The women beat UMA (70-56) and lost to Navy Prep (87-66) and are now 10-12 (6-2 in conference). In the victory, Christina Ricci had 25 points, Alisa Sweet 17  points and 17 rebounds and Chelsea Sloat 11 points.  In the setback, Sweet had 20 points and Ricci 18.

SPNLL holding registration

The South Portland National Little League is holding its registration Monday (6 to 8 p.m.) and Feb. 12 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) at the Community Center. Wrestling clinic upcoming

Scarborough is hosting a youth (K through 6) wrestling clinic, Mondays and Wednesdays, from Feb. 7 through March 31, at the Scarborough High Plummer gymnasium from 6 to 7:30 p.m. FMI, 730-4150.

Scarborough softball clinic

The Southern New Hampshire University softball coaching staff and players will be at the Wentworth Gym at Scarborough High Feb. 27 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. for a free softball clinic for all Scarborough girls ages 6 to 13. Maine Elite Lacrosse registration upcoming

Maine Elite Lacrosse’s session III registration is underway. The boys’ grades 7-8 season runs Tuesdays March 1 through April 12 at the Portland Sports Complex. Casco Bay Sports winter offerings

Casco Bay Sports has several leagues primed to start soon. A Sunday night co-ed indoor soccer league and a Wednesday night co-ed softball league is underway at YourSpace in Gorham. Sunday co-ed basketball begins Feb. 13 at the East End Community Center in Portland. There will also be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night dodgeball leagues beginning in early February, a Wednesday bowling league and  a new Monday co-ed volleyball league beginning in late February.
