Scarborough free throw shooting contest winners

The recent Scarborough Basketball Free Throw Shooting Contest saw 41 players from grades 6 through 12 participate. The seventh grade winner was Alex Giles. Stephan Gikas was first in the eighth grade division. Tim Ross won in ninth grade. Matt Hartl took the 10th grade division. Kevin Manning and Dillon Russo tied for first in 11th grade. Ben Sirois was tops in 12th grade.

Semi-pro football team holding info meeting

The Southern Maine Raging Bulls, Maine’s ‘AAA’ semi-professional football team, will be kicking off their 15th season with a recruiting and informational meeting at Jimmy the Greeks in OOB Saturday at 1 p.m. This meeting is open to all men 18 years of age, as well as their family and friends. Casco Bay Youth Hockey Association invites boys and girls ages four to nine to come to the Portland Ice Arena Feb. 18 at 4:15 p.m. for a Try Hockey for Free clinic to experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basics of the sport in a safe environment. MPL preseason lacrosse session open

Maine Premier Lacrosse’s Session III preseason lacrosse is open for all age groups. Boys and girls learn2lax K-5 runs Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Girls’ middle school runs Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Girls’ high school is also on Sundays. SPNLL registration upcoming

Men’s basketball tournament upcoming

The first annual MBR men’s statewide basketball championship will be held March 3-4 in Lewiston/Auburn. Each team will play two games of pool play March 3. The top finisher from each pool advances to the championship run March 4. The cost is $350 per team. FMI, 207-318-6523 or Jon@mbr.org.
