SP foul shooter fifth at regionals

SMCC men continue to sizzle

The Southern Maine Community College men’s basketball team extended its win streak to seven games with recent victories at Nashua CC (81-68) and at home over King (N.Y.) 102-56 to improve to 16-3 (10-1 in the Yankee Small College Conference). Against Nashua, Emmanuel Donalson went off for 24 points, while Chance Baldino and Jacob Loveridge each added 14. In the win over King College, Donalson had 19 points, Baldino 18 and Jose Nouchanthavong 14. The Seawolves grabbed 63 rebounds in the victory. SMCC hosted rival New Hampshire Technical Institute Tuesday and goes to Vermont Tech Saturday. The women’s team handled host Nashua CC, 91-20, last Thursday to improve to 10-5 (5-3 in conference). Esther Palmieri scored 19 points, dished out nine assists and had seven steals. Emily Bard pitched 19 points and had six steals. Tiana Burton added 12 points. The Seawolves’ home game versus King College Saturday was cancelled due to an abundance of injuries on the King team. SMCC was back in action Tuesday at home versus NHTI. Saturday brings a trip to Vermont Tech.

SPNLL holding registration

The South Portland National Little League will hold its 2013 registration Saturday, Feb. 2, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Community Center, 21 Nelson Rd. Online registration is also available for all returning players (spnll.com). First-time participants must have a birth certificate and proof of residency when signing up.
