SOUTH PORTLAND — The Police Department arrested two men June 16 for allegedly engaging a prostitute.

Cale Grant, 29, of South Portland, and Jason Blanco, 38, of Scarborough, were arrested during an undercover operation at a hotel near the Maine Mall that police said was part of a larger effort by several police departments to curb prostitution.

According to a press release from Sgt. Steve Webster, the undercover operation is targets customers along with prostitutes because “prostitution is a demand/supply business. Without the demand, the supply may decrease.”

“it is also known that many area prostitutes are addicted to drugs and/or being trafficked in some manner,” Webster said.
