SOUTH PORTLAND — Police on Wednesday identified the man whose body was found Tuesday afternoon on the shoreline of the Fore River.

He was James Gudinas, 47, a transient from another state who recently stayed in the greater Portland and Bangor areas, according to a Police Department press release.

Gudinas’ body was discovered near Buttonwood Road and the Greenbelt Walkway at approximately 3 p.m. by a passerby. There was no indication of foul play, according to police, who said they are continuing to try to establish a time-line leading up to Gudinas’ death.

Anyone who knew Gudinas was urged to contact Detective Steve Connors at 799-5511 ext. 77217 or at steveco@southportland.org.
