SOUTH PORTLAND — The Police Department and several community and health groups will hold a forum on mental health on Wednesday, Feb. 29. 

The department hopes to provide a forum to discuss police interaction with mentally ill residents and the support network that exists to assist residents in crisis.

The forum will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Road.

Representatives from the Maine chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness, the Opportunity Alliance, Community Counseling Center and the Portland Police Department’s Mental Health Unit will participate.
