Plate ping leads to gun charge

3/20 at 4:47 p.m. Police stopped a vehicle on an Interstate 295 entrance ramp, after an automatic license plate reader indicated the license of the registered driver was under suspension. A search of the vehicle reportedly produced a loaded 9 mm pistol and 50 non-prescribed pills. Jamie Roberts, 36, of Portland, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, operating after suspension and on an outstanding warrant for OAS and failure to appear in court.

Morning mayhem

3/22 at 8 a.m. Police were called to Wainwright Circle East for a report of a fight in progress. Upon their arrival, officers attempted to mediate a group of four men who were arguing, but another man allegedly exited a nearby home and began yelling at the men and officers. Heeding a warning from officers, the man attempted to re-enter the home, but was stopped by another man. The disruptive male reportedly hit the other man several times in the face, knocking him back into the home. Hassan Kahin, 30, of Portland, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct for fighting in public. 

Getting pushy

3/23 at 12:57 p.m. Police were called to a Western Avenue shop for a report of a woman attempting to leave the store without paying for $701 worth of merchandise. Upon arrival, the woman reportedly tried to force her way past the responding officer in the parking lot. Jennifer Haynes, 33, of Portland, was arrested on a charge of robbery.

3/23 at 7:20 p.m. Two women, 18-year-old Alexis Wickham, of Old Orchard Beach, and 19-year-old Jennifer Broker, of Saco, were arrested for criminal mischief after they were reportedly seen kicking and scratching a vehicle in the Maine Mall parking lot.
