Rockin’ arrest

6/19 at 11:40 a.m. Police were called on a report of a drunk man trying to manage his motorcycle onto Benjamin Pickett Street. Officers said that when they responded, they saw a man seated on a 1976 Honda 750, rocking the bike forward and back. The would-be driver, Eric Palson, 46, of South Portland, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence.

It’s not quite cash, but …

6/23 at 12:48 p.m. Officers were called on a report that a Main Street business owner was chasing several kids who were allegedly stealing bags of returnables. When the police arrived, they detained the three young men. Police reportedly learned that two of the boys had stolen a couple bags and fled in a Ford pickup truck. A short while later, police say they returned with a third boy to take two more bags. All four bags, valued at about $25, were recovered, and the three 16-year-old South Portland residents were summonsed for theft and released to their parents.
