12/5 at 1:56 a.m. Officer David Stailing stopped a suspicious vehicle on Wallace Avenue and reportedly discovered spray-paint cans and the odor of fresh paint in the automobile. Officer Andrew Nelson checked the surrounding area and discovered that rail cars had been painted in Rigby Yard. Conner Comeau, 21, of Portland, and Arthur Hockmuth, 21, of Rye, N.H., were both issued summonses on charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

Christmas spirit

12/5 at 5:30 p.m. Police responded to a disturbance in the Maine Mall parking lot, where a man allegedly grabbed a laptop computer from a mall business and ran out the door. When the man was detained, his friend arrived and allegedly began assaulting the employee. A bystander reportedly help security and the employee, but the laptop was damaged. Anthony Rideout, 20, of Lewiston, and Randy Ussery, 20, of Portland, were both arrested on charges of assault, theft, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
