SOUTH PORTLAND — A new way to promote science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM learning, will be revealed at Fairchild Semiconductor, 82 Running Hill Road, at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27.

Gov. Paul LePage and Segway inventor Dean Kamen will attend the event introducing the Robotics Institute of Maine. The Westbrook-based institute will be managed by the Manufacturers Association of Maine, and will link state tech companies and manufacturers with high school robotics teams.

The institute will coordinate state competitions, and recruit coaches, volunteers and find funding to promote robotics programs.
