BRUNSWICK — Sophie Berzdighian, 89, died unexpectedly April 28, at Mid Coast Senior Health Care in Brunswick.
She was born in Greece, April 5, 1925, and attended schools in Marseilles, France. She moved the U.S. in 1957 with her husband Mesrop Bezdighian and their two children, Christine and Elizabeth.
She was a dressmaker and tailor in France and in the U.S. She later worked in the electronics industry as an assembly technician.
After retiring, she travelled all over the world.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1998; daughter, Christine; and a brother Alexander Derderian.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Taylor and husband, Philip, of Bailey Island; brother, Minas Derderian, of France; two grandsons, Erik and Alexander Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held May 10 at the First Baptist Church, 185 Maine St., Freeport with Pastor Sandy Williams officiating.
