Southern Maine Community College recently announced the hire of Julia Knights as its new assistant athletic director and women’s basketball coach. Knights played at Maine Maritime Academy and graduated in 2007. Knights coached at MMA, Wentworth Institute of Technology. Lasalle College and Johnson and Wales College.

“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to join the SMCC Athletics program and looking forward to being a part of the staff that provides an outstanding small college program,” Knights said.

“I’m very pleased at Julia’s decision to be part of the Seawolves family,” said Matt Richards, SMCC’s athletic director and men’s basketball coach. “Her prior experience, along with her energy and enthusiasm, will be an outstanding fit for our college and one that I’m looking forward to working alongside.”

Knights’ appointment will begin in July.
