The Southern Maine Activities Association football all-star team was released last week. It is populated by several players from Cheverus, Deering and Portland.

The first team offense includes Cheverus offensive lineman Mickey O’Brion and Portland utility player Imadhi Zagon.

The first team defense features Cheverus’ Peter Gwilym (back), Evan Jendrasko (tackle) and Matt Place (end) and Deering’s Travis Wade (utility).

The Cumberland County offensive first team boasted O’Brion (guard), Zagon (utility) and Portland’s Jake Alexander (wide receiver). The offense’s second team had Zagon at running back and Deering’s Alex Lunt at tackle.

The defensive first team featured Gwilym (back), Jendrasko (tackle), Place (end) and teammate Jon White (tackle), Deering’s Wade (utility) and Portland’s Caleb Kenney (linebacker). Cheverus’ Zach Dulac (linebacker and utility), Deering’s Wade (back) and Thomas Valez (tackle) and Portland’s Carl Szanton (linebacker) and Ted Volger (back) made the second team.

Cheverus’ O’Brion and Place, Deering’s John Hammond and Blake Foster and Portland’s Pat Curran qualified as Academic All-Stars.
