CUMBERLAND — A narrated slideshow will be offered by the Ski Museum of Maine and Cumberland Historical Society on Thursday, Jan. 21.

“Down-Mountain and Cross-Country: 140 Years of Skiing in Maine” will be presented at the society at the Mabel I. Wilson School library on Tuttle Road. The 7 p.m. event is free, and the public is invited. Refreshments will be served.

More than 140 photos, some more than 100 years old, have been brought together from the Kingfield-based museum’s collections and more than 30 other sources, including skiing organizations and historical societies.

Photos and graphics to be presented encompass the whole span of Maine skiing, from the arrival of immigrants from Finland, Norway and Sweden in the late 1800s to the present day.

Edited Jan. 19 to reflect a change in location.
