FREEPORT — Sidney L. Brewer, 84, died unexpectedly at his home Jan. 20 in Freeport.
He was born Sept. 6, 1928 in Meriden, Conn., to Carlton and Elsie Brewer.
At an early age Brewer moved with his family to Maine. He attended Freeport schools and graduated with the Freeport High School Class of 1949.
Brewer worked for many years as a bulldozer operator for Mariner Lumber before working for the Freeport Water District until his retirement after more than 20 years of service.
He enjoyed being on the water, owning many boats throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane (Walsh) Brewer, of Freeport; a son, Scott Brewer, of Freeport; two brothers, David Brewer, of Freeport, and Paul Brewer of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a sister, Joan Walker of Richmond; and two grandchildren, Jared Brewer and Jeffrey Brewer, both of Freeport.
Services will be private.
