CUMBERLAND — Shirley Malia Kirk, 75, of Cumberland, died Feb. 3.
She was born Sept. 4, 1938, in Portland, a daughter of John M. and Gladys M. Malia Sr. She was a proud 1956 graduate of Portland High School.
After high school, she worked for the Government Employee Federal Credit Union, Portland Teachers Federal Credit Union as well as several other local credit unions.
She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and a member of the Grand Associates of St. Brother Andre. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s Manor and the Salvation Army at Christmas time. She devoted her time to her family and was her grandchildrens’ best friend.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles W. Kirk; son, Charles M. Kirk and his daughters, Libby and Emmy Kirk; daughter, Carol K. Wallace and husband, Andrew and their sons, Alex and Matthew Wallace; sister, Carol A. Malia; brother, John M. Malia and wife, Julie; nephew, Patrick Malia; and niece, Janet Descoteaux and husband, David and their children, Dani and John.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 8 at St. Pius X Church, Portland. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
