BRUNSWICK — The Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter of Edgecomb hope to find homes for more than 80 rescued puppies and kittens by Christmas, and will be hosting two major adoption events Dec. 10 and 17.

For an additional cost, staff and volunteers are offering Christmas Day deliveries while dressed as Santa and his elves, with proceeds benefiting the shelters.

The Coastal Humane Society, on Range Road in Brunswick, will open at noon and the Lincoln County Animal Shelter will open at 11 a.m. both days.

All pets are rescued from overcrowded shelters in Mississippi and Georgia. The organizations said those adopting the pets must become the primary caregivers for the animals, and cautioned against making a new pet a gift for an unprepared owner this holiday season.
