PORTLAND — Sheila M. (Connors) Ridge, 79, of Portland, died April 1 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born May 12, 1935, in Arklow, County Wicklow, Ireland. She met her husband, Raymond, in Ireland while he was on a family trip, and together they shared 29 years of marriage. She came to the United States in 1969.
Sheila was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Seaside Rehabilitation Center for several years. She worked at the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse on Stevens Avenue from 1993 to 2000.
Always one to put others before herself, Ridge’s first priority was her family. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening.
She was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond P. Ridge.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Ridge, Bridget Ridge and Raymond Ridge and wife, Violy, all of Portland. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amy, Brittney, Kaeyle, Sanella, Christopher and Nichole; and great-grandchildren, Alexa, Michael and Raelynn.
A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress St., Portland. Burial was to follow at Old Calvary Cemetery, in South Portland.
