A chronological compilation of obituaries from all four editions of The Forecaster, covering 14 Maine cities and towns: Portland, Falmouth, Cumberland, Yarmouth, Freeport, North Yarmouth, Chebeague Island, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Bath, Brunswick, Harpswell and Topsham.

  • Viola D. Stelluti-Cesi, 79

    SCARBOROUGH — Viola Dina Stelluti-Cesi, 79, died at home Aug. 26 after a long illness.  

    On April 18, 1931, she was born in Hollywood, Calif., the daughter of Floralie and Fausto Stelluti-Cesi.

    She lived in Westbrook until moving to Scarborough in 1983.  

    She enjoyed spending many summers at Sebago Lake and Crescent Beach with her daughters.  

    A talented seamstress, she loved creating outfits for her daughters and making clothes for their dolls.  

  • Greg A. Fullerton, 32

    SCARBOROUGH — Greg A. Fullerton, 32, died at home Aug. 24.

    Born in Westerly, R.I., on Oct. 23, 1977, a son of Bruce R. and Rena (Harrison) Fullerton, he graduated in 1995 from Chariho Regional High School in Richmond, R.I.

    He was employed at Prime Toyota in Saco.

    He was predeceased by his grandfathers, George W. Fullerton and William C. Harrison, III and his cousin, Russell Jay Gould.

  • Arthur R. LeDuc, 81

    TOPSHAM — Arthur R. LeDuc, 81, died at Mid Coast Hospital Aug. 27 after a brief illness.

    Born in Barnstead, N.H. in 1928, the first son of Edward and Eldora LeDuc, he was raised in Pittsfield, N.H., where he graduated from high school in 1946.

    After attending the University of New Hampshire, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1947, retiring in 1972 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

    During his 25 years of service, he served in the Korean War, Vietnam, and was stationed in numerous places throughout the U.S. and Japan.

    In 1953, he married Patricia A. O'Brien.

  • Joyce E. Williams, 71

    HAYWOOD, Calif. — Joyce E. Williams, 71, formerly of Bath, died Aug. 12 following a brief battle with cancer.

    Born in Bath on Dec. 20, 1938, a daughter of Andrew J. and Arlene Thibeault Lemoine, she was educated in Bath schools.

    After receiving her nursing degree, she worked as an operating and emergency room nurse for most of her career, before becoming an administrator the last several years.

    She was previously married to Wallace G. Plant of Bath.

  • Mildred B. Simmonds La Course, 86

    YARMOUTH — Mildred B. "Sandy" Simmonds La Course, 86, died July 31 at home after a brief illness.

    On May 28, 1924, she was born in Bradley to Edwin and Mina Mudgett. As a young child, she and her siblings were placed in an orphanage and later grew up in a foster family in Winterport, where she attended local schools.

    From 1946 to 1974 she was married to Roy Simmonds, and from 1974 to 2006, she was married to Roland La Course .

    A devoted mother and homemaker, she was immensely proud of her children and loved all of them dearly.

  • Eugene B. Parker, 84

    FALMOUTH — Eugene B. Parker, 84, died Aug. 13 at home with his wife Tina by his side. 

    He was born in South Portland on July 30, 1926, the son of Delwin Parker and Lena Winslow Ellis. 

    He was a lifelong Falmouth resident, growing up on his grandparents' farm, and later creating his own homestead on Woods Road with his loving wife.

    He worked as a carpenter for most of his life. Later on he worked at Maine Cement and Durastone Steps as a formmaker until he was in his late 70s. 

  • Eric J. Hartglass, 64: Mister Bagel founder

    PORTLAND — Eric J. "Rick" Hartglass, 64, died Aug. 30 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.

    The son of the late Albert and Beatrice Hartglass of Brooklyn, N.Y., he graduated from Midwood High School and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

    For the past 42 years he resided in Portland with his beloved wife, Gail Zade Hartglass.

    In 1977 he opened Mister Bagel on Forest Avenue. This location was the first bagel shop in Maine. There are now 12 successful franchises, which were a great source of pride for him.

  • Mary T. Ridge, 97: Career in ice cream industry

    PORTLAND — Mary Theresa Ridge, 97, died in Portland on Aug. 26.

    She was born in Portland on April 27, 1913, a daughter of Patrick and Margaret Folan Ridge.

  • Helen W. Freise, 102: longtime member of First Congregational Church

    SACO — Helen W. Freise, 102, formerly of Scarborough, died Aug. 14 at her residence.

    She was born in Boston, Mass., a daughter of James Henry and Nellie Payson Fales Watts and was educated in local schools, and graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business School in Boston.

    For more than 20 years she worked as a secretary for Saco Lowell Textiles.

    She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in South Portland and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

  • William S. Williams, 89

    BRUNSWICK — William Stanley “Stan” Williams, 89, died Aug. 21 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

    On July 4, 1921, he was born in Fair Haven, Vt., a son of Robert H. and Winifred (Parry) Williams of Welsh heritage, which was a source of pride for him.

    After he graduated from Fair Haven High School in 1939, he joined the service and was stationed in Europe during World War II.
