PORTLAND — Police are looking for two men they suspect in a pair of armed robberies on Cumberland Avenue on March 27.

Polce Lt. James Sweatt said no one was injured in the the alleged robberies, which occurred within 10 minutes of each other near the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and Chestnut Street.

The first report was at 9:50 p.m., when a 43-year-old Portland man was approached by the men who showed a handgun and demanded his wallet. The victim fled toward Elm Street, but was caught and handed over his wallet.

At about 10 p.m., a 45-year-old woman from Falmouth and a 40-year-old woman from Cumberland were robbed after police said the suspects again displayed a handgun.

One suspect is described as a clean-shaven white man in his late teens or early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slim build. The second suspect was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a slightly larger build than the first suspect, and of an undetermined race.
