FREEPORT — The Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of Freeport and Pownal are collecting non-perishable food, personal-care items and paper goods for the Food Pantry at Freeport Community Services.

Scouts placed collection bags and fliers at homes in the two towns on Saturday, Nov. 12. They will return to the houses on Saturday, Nov. 19, to bring items to the Freeport Community Center at 53 Depot St. There are also community collection boxes at the Middle School and Morse Street for non-perishable items.

Residents can also drop off items at the Community Center anytime Saturday. The Scouts are looking to break last year’s record of collecting more than 5,000 pounds of food in one day.
