Scarborough junior Sam Rusak, who won four events at the Class A state outdoor track and field meet June 4, helping the Red Storm boys’ team win the title, was recently named Maine’s male Gatorade track and field Athlete of the Year. Rusak won the pole vault (15 feet, 6 inches), high jump (6 feet), 110 hurdles (15.01 seconds) and 200 (22.82). Rusak also came in fourth nationally in the decathlon at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor championship.
