Scarborough Public Works employee Steve Quirk unloaded several truckloads of wooden pallets on Monday, stacking them next to the town skating rink. Quirk’s work will be much appreciated on Saturday, Jan. 16, during the annual Winterfest celebration on and around the rink, when chilly participants will be able to warm themselves by a huge bonfire fueled by the pallets. Besides skating events, races, snow sculptures and the bonfire, this year’s festival includes dog sled rides. Activites begin at noon.
