The Scarborough boys’ 11-year-old all-star baseball team recently won the District 6 championship and was closing in on winning the state tournament this week. Scarborough won the District 6 tourney with wins over South Portland National (12-2), Yarmouth (9-0), Cumberland/North Yarmouth (11-1) and a two-of-three series win over Falmouth (answering a 6-3 loss with 3-1 and 8-3 victories). As 10-year-olds, Scarborough won the state title and got to the semifinals of the Eastern Regional tournament last year. Scarborough is now competing in Lincolnville against other district champions for state honors. After beating Bangor-East, 3-0, in the opener, Scarborough downed Belfast, 9-2, and York, 8-5. Scarborough faced Dirigo Wednesday night.
