SCARBOROUGH — The Scarborough Land Trust finalized receipt of a donation of about three acres of marshland to add to the protected area of the Scarborough Marsh last week.

The marsh and woodland parcel, at the end of Roundabout Drive off Black Point Road, was donated by the great-grandchildren of original property owner F.X. Jannelle, who operated a building and contracting company in Prout’s Neck for many years.

“The Marsh is a treasured part of Scarborough,” Paul Austin, president of the trust, said in a press release. “Thanks to the generosity of the Jannelle family, three more acres are now conserved for wildlife habitat and scenic enjoyment.”
