SCARBOROUGH — A November arraignment is scheduled for an 18-year-old Scarborough High School student who was arrested Sept. 23 on charges of carrying concealed weapons, and possession and trafficking in dangerous knives.

Police Chief Robert Moultin said Jonathan Germano is scheduled to appear Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m. in Portland.

Principal David Creech said it is unlikely Germano will be returning to the high school.

In an email to parents and staff following the incident, Creech said “students and staff were in no danger and the arrest did not impact the functioning of the high school.” He said that Germano was “completely cooperative” and did not threaten anyone before he was arrested.

Police and school officials were alerted by several students that Germano was sharpening a knife aboard a school bus. They said a spring-loaded switchblade was found in Germano’s backpack and a sheathed knife was found concealed under on leg.
