SCARBOROUGH — After securing their 10th consecutive state title, the Academic Decathlon team did not disappoint at the national competition in Honolulu in April.

The team placed third overall in the medium-sized school division, and a record-breaking five team members earned individual medals for their performances.

Beatrice Brauer, a senior, scored highest in her division, and received five medals: three gold medals for economics, music and language and literature, and two silver medals for art and social science. She also received a scholarship for a participant who has overcome significant personal obstacles. 

Sadie Tirell, a senior, was awarded silver medals in the interview and speech portions. Senior Alex Clary won the gold medal in art, senior Andrew Morrissey won the bronze medal in art, and freshman Alec Lang won the gold medal in math.
